The Pentecostals of Cairns is a Christ-centred spirit filled church with a passion for real spirituality, a love for family and a heart for the community. We want to help as many people as possible in our city come to know Jesus in the power of his Spirit by trying to be the kind of church described in the Bible. We do this with practical teaching, heartfelt worship, genuine care for those in need and fulfil our calling to make disciples throughout the world.

We welcome you to join us during one of our weekly services whether you are just beginning to check out God and the Bible, or you’re a committed Christian who wants to grow closer to the Lord. Come and allow Jesus to transform your life today.

 What We Believe

162378382_3587335781363923_6085092018493090314_n.jpeg

God

We believe there is only one God: infinite in power and holy in nature, attributes and purpose; and possessing absolute, indivisible deity (Jude 1:25, Malachi 3:6, Colossians 2:9). The One God has revealed Himself to us as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Spirit.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is true in all that it teaches. We accept the Scriptures as our only and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:16).

Jesus Christ

We believe that in Jesus Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead (Colossians 2:9). We believe that God came to us manifested in the flesh as Jesus Christ, born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23); that he lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), was crucified on Calvary for our sins (Matthew 26:28), and bodily rose from the grave (Romans 6:9); and that he has been exalted to the throne of God where He is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). We believe that through his death and life we have personal salvation and power for victorious living (Romans 6:5-7).

Sin and Salvation

We believe that all men have sinned and needs salvation, (Romans 3:23-25), which is obtained through the new birth by faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:28). Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23).

Gospel and Conversion

The gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We express our belief in the gospel through our obedience to the gospel. We obey the gospel and apply it to our lives by repenting of our sins (death to sin), being baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection). This threefold experience is the consistent pattern of conversion in the early church (1 Cor 15.1-4; 2 Thes 1.8; 1 Pet 4.17; Mark 1.15; Acts 15.7; Rom 6.3-4; Acts 2.4, 37-39; 8.9-17; 10.1-48; 19.1-7).

The Church

We believe the Church has been “called out” of the world to be a habitation of God through the Spirit (1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 3:17-19). As the body of Christ on earth, the church offers hope to mankind. The church is one body made up of many members (1 Corinthians 12:12,27), diverse in their gifts and calling of the Holy Spirit.

About Christian Living

We are to love God and love others. We must seek to live a life that is pleasing to him both inwardly and outwardly – in our thoughts, words, and actions. "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world." (Titus 2:11-12)

The Second Coming

We believe in the pre-millennial return of Jesus Christ to receive his bride, the church, unto Himself (John 14:3, Matthew 25:31). At his coming, we believe the dead in Christ will be resurrected from the grave (1 Corinthians 15:52). We believe in Christ’s millennial reign upon the earth.

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone
— Ephesians 2:19-20 KJV
